These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of M3U8 Tools at m3u8.dev (the “Service”), operated by M3U8 Tools. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service

M3U8 Tools provides free, browser-based media utilities, including tools related to HLS/M3U8 and common media workflows. Processing is intended to run locally in your browser. Features, availability, and browser support may change without notice. WebCodecs and related APIs work best on current Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome and Edge.

Local processing

Unless you explicitly cause your browser to fetch a remote URL, media you select remains on your device. We do not host, store, or process your media files on our servers as part of the default tool workflows.

License to use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for lawful personal or internal business purposes. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer (except where mandatory law allows), scrape in an abusive manner, or commercially exploit the Service’s software, branding, or content except as expressly permitted.

Acceptable use

You are solely responsible for the media and URLs you process. You must only process content you have the legal right to access, use, and redistribute. You must not use the Service to infringe intellectual property or privacy rights, to circumvent technological protection measures or access controls, to distribute malware, or to violate any applicable law.

Intellectual property

The Service—including its name, logos, design, and software (excluding your media)—is owned by M3U8 Tools or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of our intellectual property to you. Your media remains yours; we claim no ownership of files you process locally.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every file, codec, or browser.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, M3U8 Tools and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us (if any) to use the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) fifty U.S. dollars (USD 50).

Changes; suspension

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or these Terms at any time. We will update the “Last updated” date when these Terms change. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms. We may suspend or terminate access for conduct we reasonably believe violates these Terms or applicable law.

Governing law; severability

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operation of the Service, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction provide otherwise. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
